When we first arrived at EAS - I never dreamt of such possibilities - I was just hoping he might get to any form of tertiary education. Luca’s journey at EA Vancouver.

Luca's Eaton Arrowsmith Journey

I am writing to you today with an update on my son Luca who attended Eaton Arrowsmith Vancouver from 2014 - 2016, from the age of 9. We moved from Australia so that Luca could have this opportunity. On his Initial Learning Profile Assessment he had 2 Severe's, 2 x Severe / Moderate and 3 x Moderate /Severe's, leaving the school with most of these changes moving to Good or Average. Attending EAS - has changed Luca's life in leveling the playing field in his ability to learn. He also agrees with this assessment and is incredibly grateful. When Luca was attending EAS Luciana [former staff member] had emphasized Artifactual Thinking and had recommended for him to do double the sessions. At the time I did not understand the benefits. Today I understand why it was so critical and it has resulted in Luca's ability to better construct essays for his English and Modern History classes, understanding the importance of what takes place before, during and the impact afterwards of an event. It has also resulted in him having in my observation a higher EQ then most of his peers. Obviously reaching 6 handed clocks helped as well.

The expertise of the teachers in breaking down the anxiety of learning applied with a growth mindset saw a completely new child appear, so much so that his school on his return could not believe the difference after a 2.5 year total absence from school. On Luca's return I saw his results improve on average by 10% each year as the reconfiguration of the neural pathways strengthened. I was told that it takes 5 years and it did, as that was when he really hit his stride. Luca has just finished his schooling here in Australia and his results are mind-blowing. He came 12th in the State for English out of 30,000 students and 4 out of 5 of his subjects were above 90%. He was also selected to represent his ART at ArtExpress - a showcase of the top students. His total result was 96.35% and is now looking at studying Business / Law.

When we first arrived at EAS - I never dreamt of such possibilities - I was just hoping he might get to any form of tertiary education. He has become an incredible young man - who has great empathy particularly for those with learning disabilities and next year he plans on tutoring Math whilst attending university. So from the bottom of my heart - I send this report as a testament to all the incredible teachers to know that what you do changes lives and that as parents we are deeply grateful. Thank you! Caron
